Like I mentioned in a previous post we are in Kilkee on the Western Coast of Ireland about an hour from Limerick. Kilkee is a coastal town that is a very popular and summer beach destination. As you will see from the pictures it is absolutely beautiful. We truly could not be more grateful to be in this place.
When we made the decision to leave London and head to Ireland I immediately texted my good friend from college Tom Edwards. Like me Tom married way up. His amazing wife Kelly is from Limerick. Elza and I missed their wedding that was here in Ireland, as Waverly was 3 weeks old and we always talk about how sad we were to miss what looked like an amazingly special event.
But, I digress, when I texted Tom to tell him about our situation and the need to quickly plan a 10 day adventure in Ireland, Kelly and him jumped into action. Sending us recommendations and ideas for places to go and things to see. This is the first Christmas that Tom and Kelly have not been here in Ireland, so I know it is bitter sweet to give recommendations. It would have been so great to celebrate with them and their kiddos here in Ireland. (Maybe another year!)
That alone was so kind, but then they offered us a chance to stay at Kelly’s family’s house here in Kilkee over Christmas. We really could not be more fortunate and grateful to the Whelan Family as this house and this place has been absolutely amazing. The house is right on the bay and is so lovely. It has been more than we could have ever asked for.
These past 3 days have been incredible. We hiked to the cliffs of Kilkee, played in the sand on the beaches, enjoyed lovely views, swam in the bay, and got a chance to be together in this lovely home on the water. From the big front window to the completely glass sun room where we have enjoyed meals we have enjoyed every minute. Huge thank you to Tom, Kelly, the Whelan Family and to Ireland in general for being amazing.

Elza is making Christmas dinner now. It was weird to be away from home and family for Christmas, and Elza and I both know that we don’t think we want to make a habit of being away from home for Christmas. Saying that this could not have been more special. Elza got the kids little chocolates when they woke up this morning and we spent the day enjoying being together. Christmas in Ireland has been lovely. We are headed into Limerick for a day trip tomorrow before flying to France on the 27th. (That is the current plan, we know that things can always change). Sending all love and happiness to all on this Christmas. -Mike
