After a good night sleep here in Cork we woke up and had a wonderful breakfast at the hotel. We then spent the next 4 hours exploring the Blarney Castle. It was truly amazing. The grounds were amazing and there were so few people there is was truly peaceful. We saw a sign that said “from this point 90 minutes to the Blarney stone” right outside the Castle that clearly was there to let people know who are waiting in line to kiss the stone. We walked straight up the stairs of the castles stopping to enjoy each room and didn’t wait one second the whole day. It reminded us that traveling during a pandemic does have its perks. More on kissing the Blarney stone below. For now enjoy some pictures from the day.

When it was time to kiss the Blarney stone I was excited to make it happen. The stone is supposed to give you the gift of gab and guarantee that you will never be tongue tied again. To kiss the stone you lay on your back and are upside down hanging outside the tower wall. There is an attendant there to hold you to make sure you don’t fall. I laid down and gave the stone a kiss. The stone wasn’t having it and kissed me right back square on the forehead. The kids put me in the pillory and laughed at me after.

We left blarney and headed back to cork for dinner in town, then back to the hotel for a quick swim (bathing caps required, sorry no pictures). We are journaling now and then headed to bed. Ireland has been amazing!!! Love and happiness to all. -Mike
